Daily Dispatches: Nairobi is an innovative exploration through photojournalism of a fast-evolving 21st-century African city, unfolding day by day in real time. Photographer Brendan Bannon and writer Mike Pflanz will spend each day of April searching out stories from all corners of Kenya’s capital, stories which will paint a compelling, informative and surprising portrait of the city, and the lives lived by those who call it home. Each day, they send their images and reports back to a series of US universities and colleges we’re working with, who will in turn print them and mount them in an exhibition which grows day by day.

During the Spring of 2011, eight high school students in San Francisco were offered an opportunity to learn how to use photography as a tool to create awareness and social change. Over 12 weeks, each young photographer developed a personal photographic story related to the broad issue of health in their communities, and voiced their positions on what makes a community healthy. A selection of this work was presented at the Human Rights Summit, hosted by San Francisco State University on 5/2/11.
